Just to start things off smoothly, let's go over the term "blog". Simply put, "blog" is merely an acronym for "web log", implying its function as an online journal or traveler's log. Mind you, online diaries have existed long before the advent of blogger and livejournal, but somehow these establishments have launched personal web writing off obscure homepages (damn you, Geocities!) and into a massive network of interlinked, text-heavy journals, complete with dated and archived entries.
